IRC is the one of the earliest known chat systems. The concept is easy; people connect over servers which allow them to chat with other people. There are servers for almost any topic; sports, news, gaming, internet, general chat etc.
As for clients, most people use the mIRC client, which is what makes it the most reliable IRC client.
IRC is also used to transfer files from user to user. A large amount of servers deal with releasing warez, and today I'll be showing you how to access and download from these warez servers.
1. First off, you'll need to download mIRC (keygen included).
2. Extract the archive to any folder, and register your mIRC using the provided keygen.
3. Open up your client and go to Tools>Options (the Options menu should pop-up automatically when you start mIRC). A box like this should open.
4. In the Connect tab, enter your own information; name, e-mail and nickname. (Don't enter your real name, unless you're stupid)
5. In the DCC tab, pick the same options as shown in the picture.
6. In DCC>Ignore, change the Method to "Disabled" and uncheck "Turn ignore back on".
7. In the Servers tab, click on "Add" and a box should pop-up. Enter the following information in the box, and then click on "Add".
8. In the Options tab, keep only the first two boxes ticked.
9. In the IRC tab, change your settings to the settings in the picture below.
10. Now your mIRC is ready to start downloading, close it.
11. To search for files, go to any one of the sites below.

PacketNews
XDCCSpy
IRCDig
12. I chose PacketNews, because I think it's the best.
13. Open up the site you chose and search for a file using the search bar.
14. Once the page is loaded, you should have a bunch of tables that look sort of like the picture below.
I've color-coded each part of the results page. Here's the legend:
Red: The file that you want to download.
Blue: The packet number.
Green: The file size.
Orange: The files' description.
15. To connect to the files' server, all you have to do is click the packet number. (Make sure you are using Internet Explorer 7 or above)
16. A message similar to the one below will appear once you do so. Make sure to click on "Allow Access".
17. After this is done, mIRC should restore itself, and tell you to choose what to do. Just tick the first option and click "OK".
18. Now you're connected to the channel/server, you can download your file or search for others. Most servers give you instructions on how to download, but just in-case, use this command to request a file.
/msg [botname] xdcc send [packet number]
Example: /msg Appz12345 xdcc send #56

Optionally, you can visit SearchIRC to search for channels quickly and efficiently.

IRC (Internet Relay Chat) is a form of real-time text messaging that allows people to chat with each other over the internet. This form of chat is mainly used for group communications, and allows one-to-one chat via private messages. The service also allows the transfer of files over a direct Client-to-Client connection.
The original idea of IRC was started by Jarkko Oikarinen in late August 1988. It was made to replace an older chat client called MUT (MultiUser Talk) that was previously used on a forum known as OuluBox. IRC is available to almost any computer that supports networking.
Chatting over IRC is easy, once a user has a client, he/she can connect to a server. Once connected, the user can send messages to other people on the server. Files can also be transferred, and warez groups used to put their releases on IRC.
As for clients, there are many to choose from, but I think that the best is mIRC. It's easy to use, and has a slick and clean interface. You can download the client with a keygen from here. Follow these steps if you want to fully activate your client.
1. Extract the archive to any folder you want.
2. Open the keygen, and register mIRC by going to Help>About mIRC.
3. Your client is now fully activated!

The eDonkey Network (a.k.a eDonkey 2000 or eD2k) is a P2P network that is based on the sharing of files over servers. These servers act like a bridge that connect all the files together and allow people connected to download files from other connected users. This concept allows the downloading of large files, and also keeps the files available for a longer time than other P2P networks.
Currently, eDonkey servers (like Sharing Kingdom 1) can hold up to 20 million files and connect hundreds of thousands of users to each other. The availability of files is high, meaning you can find almost any file you're looking for, if you're connected to the right server. The larger the server, the more sharers (or uploaders) you'll find for a particular file.
As for eDonkey clients, the most used of all clients is eMule. It is responsible for 90% of eDonkey users. That's why I'll be giving you a quick look at this client.
As you can see in the picture below, searching for the words "prison break" will bring up a whopping 1521 results, and even more can be pushed through by clicking the "More" button.
Don't forget though - the amount of results depends on the server you're connected to, because each server has different users which means different files. If you look at the results in the picture above, you'll see that all of the files are blue except one, which is black. The color blue indicates the availability of the file(s), the more darker the shade of blue, the more available it is. You can also see that there are a couple of columns; size, availability, complete, type and file ID.
Size is how large the file is in megabytes. Availability is how available the file is, but you can see that from the color of the file name. Complete is how many parts of the file are available; the more, the better. Type is simply put as the file type. File ID is the code of the file.

Today I'll be introducing you to a network that is quite different from others. P2PTV is a peer-to-peer TV network. Mainly based in China, this network allows users to stream live content over the internet. This can be done in 2 main ways, as I've written in my other post; streaming from your browser or streaming content over a special client.
The same system used in the BitTorrent network is applied here; when you stream the live broadcast, you simultaneously upload the same stream to another user and so on. This keeps the P2PTV network alive. The time between the original broadcast (on TV) and the stream is around 2-3 minutes, but that doesn't make much of a difference.
The term tracker is also used here. Trackers connect the users who are streaming the live broadcast to each other, so they can upload/download the stream easily.
You can also make your own channel at home by using a TV tuner card (sold seperately). The card can stream what you're are watching to other people around the world through a client or a website.
Advantages of Illegal Broadcasting:
- Broadcasting via a P2PTV system is usually much cheaper than the alternatives and can be done by private individuals.
- No quality of service (QoS). Compared to unicasting (the standard server-client architecture used in streaming media) no one can guarantee a reliable stream, since every user is a rebroadcaster.
- Each viewer is a part of a chain of viewers which all can have a negative or positive influence on the reliability of the stream (by having a slow PC, a filled downlink or uplink or an unreliable consumer grade DSL or cable connection).
Dating back to as early as the year 2000, the Gnutella Network is one of the most oldest P2P networks. The first client was developed by Justin Frankel and Tom Pepper of Nullsoft, soon after the company's acquisition of AOL. Only a few days after the client was released to the public (not for free), reverse engineered, or edited, versions of the client began to pop out. These free and edited versions still remain to be a pain in the neck for the Gnutella network.
The name Gnutella originated from two words; GNU public license, which the client was released under and Nutella, the chocolate spread. The developers of the network supposedly ate a lot of Nutella during their work on the project, which led to the name Gnutella.
The Gnutella network used to work like this; imagine a group, or circle, of people (called nodes), who each use a Gnutella client. Once your client is started up, it must find at least one other node and connect to it. The client will then continue to find and connect to other nodes until it reaches a certain number. Nowadays, most Gnutella clients will connect to 32 nodes.
When the user wants to start a search, the client will send the request to each connected node. Once a result is found, the node will notify the client of this result, and the client, in turn, will display these results on the screen. If the user wants to download the file, the request will be sent back to the node that brought up the results.
If the node isn't firewalled, the client can connect to it directly and commence with the download. In the case of a node being firewalled, the client will send a "push request" to force the node to open up the connection and start the download. Finally, when the user disconnects, the connected nodes will be saved into the client, for easier connecting when the client is started again.
This old method of searching on the Gnutella network was often unreliable; the constant connecting/disconnecting of users led to the instability of the network, which meant higher bandwidth costs for no reason.
To fix these problems in the network, Gnutella developers made a new system which consisted of leaves and ultrapeers. In the older versions, all nodes would be treated equally; whether capable of sharing files or not. Nowadays, new nodes which enter the network are left aside and people call them leaves. Once the leaves get connected and start sharing, they get upgraded to ultrapeers.

UseNet is the oldest used P2P network, and is still widespread until this day. The idea started at Duke University by the graduate students Tom Truscott and Jim Ellis, and was launched in the year 1980. Experiments lasted from year 1979-1980. UseNet first started as a post (or news) network.
Users could read and post messages from/to one or more categories, known as newsgroups. The idea was similar to the forums we know today, but a lot more primitive. The network was launched over a decade before the World Wide Web was avaiable to the public.
Nowadays, UseNet is a lot different from what it was like 25 years ago. It is now a large source for illegal downloads like warez, movies and games. Most UseNet servers store hundreds of terabytes of files. There are many sites that deal with the UseNet network, but the most trusted are listed below.

UseNet sites require subscription fees that are payed monthly, and increase in price according to gigabytes transferred.

There is a site that still hosts UseNet archives dating back to May 1981. This site was originally named DejaNews, but was purchased by Google in 2001. The site is now called Google Groups.
